The cabin is about 45 minutes away from the busier parts of Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge making it the perfect spot to get away and just enjoy the amazing views of the mountains it offers. You can take 100 pictures each day of the beautiful landscape from the back porch, and I guarantee that no 2 will be the same. Gorgeous sunrises, the colors cast across the clouds as the sun sets, the clouds looking like they are coming out of the trees (true to the Smoky Mountains), the moon rising over the peaks of the mountains.. you have a front row seat to all of it. It's ideal if you just need a break from the world. Although the drive to the main parts of town are a little bit farther out, you won't be disappointed by the scenery along your route. The cabin itself is very clean, updated, and has a simple beauty to it. Be prepared to fall in love with the shower. We did have a bear visit on our last night. The "bear proof" bin for the garbage may need to be reevaluated. The bear stayed for a little over an hour picking apart our trash. Although the bear never seemed to consider coming on the porch, I would advise staying aware of your surroundings while hanging out back there. However, this is true with anywhere in the area.
