Located in the famous Smoky Mountains! Perched 3,600 ft on the top of a mountain with amazing panoramic views you'll never forget. When you arrive, you will notice the breezeway and the bistro table between Cabin 1 and 2. Humming Bear offers a unique vacation experience away from the hustle and bustle - rent one 3 bedroom cabin, or rent both 3 bedroom cabins if you have a larger group. Mornings at the cabin consist of watching the sunrise over the mountains. For outdoor entertainment enjoy the large deck with enough room for the whole group. Inside you will find a Jacuzzi in front of the wood fireplace overlooking the mountains.
Evenings at the cabin include hanging out by the fire pit roasting s’mores and dinner at the gazebo on the deck. Fix your supper on the grill, or take advantage of our fully furnished kitchen. Utensils, dishes, and a crock pot too. Prepare all your meals quickly when you come back from a great day of sight seeing.
Humming Bear offers a couples romantic package which includes sparkling cider, candy, and two massages. We also make candies and cakes to give as a gift. A massage therapist will come to your cabin and provide you the treatments you need. Just tell us if you are interest in this package when you book your dates with us. Yes, you book directly with us so you are assured the lowest rental rate too.
Surrounding the cabin is a variety of hiking trails. Please note that due to the altitude of the cabin, the roads become snow covered and can make it difficult to travel. Therefore it is recommended that you use a four wheel drive or chains in the winter months.
So many adventures await! Douglas Lake and other nearby creeks offer excellent fishing spots. At the bottom of the mountain, fish for some rainbow trout. Want to go horseback riding? Take a ride through the mountains at any of the nearby stables. Want to go for a swim? Check out the swimming hole and biking paths in Greenbrier Park. Zip line through the canopy, rafting down the river, hiking the mountains…These are all popular local activities!
Take a short drive to Gatlinburg where you will find shopping outlets, amusement parks, museums, Dollywood, all of the Ripley attractions (like the aquarium), and so much more. If you are at the cabin over new year, watch the ball drop in downtown Gatlinburg. Winter fest activities run from November through March. The advantage of booking directly with us (The Hayes) is that we can give you recommendations on local activities/events in the area!

It was myself, wife, my mother and two kids 11yrs and 13yrs. It was a very nice cabin but a little difficult to get up to due to how steep the mountain roads are going up to the cabin. Do not take a car without AWD or 4WD and get there during the day time not at 10:00pm like we did. It was a very quiet area and peaceful. Dave and Family
Great place to stay. Owners were very accommodating. My husband is a painter and the cabin provided the space and inspiration to create five new paintings. The cabin is taken care of and everything you need is there. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Mike S
The cabin is at the very top of the mountain and the view is spectacular. The kitchen seems renovated and has everything you need ready to go. The jacuzzi looks out over the mountains which is really relaxing and the owner put up nice lights to add to the effect. Satoe S
