Bullwinkle Inn is an upscale, modern lakefront cabin, perfect for large-group getaways and multi-family holidays. With six bedrooms spread out over four dynamic levels, this 18-person vacation rental has plenty of space for guests to spread out and enjoy the many unique rooms, views and amenities at Bullwinkle Inn. The front door opens to a main-level living room with reclining sofas and a huge flat-screen TV. This room is gently lit with natural light from a full wall of windows that overlook the deck, the trees and the water.
The main living area also includes a dining room table, a fully equipped, modern kitchen with a breakfast bar and stools, and walk-out access to the open-air, two-story, furnished deck. Vaulted ceilings and polished hardwood floors give this country cabin a luxury feel. On the lower level of the house, a walk-out, finished basement gives access to the lower level of the deck, where guests will find a large hot tub and a walkway to the edge of the lake. The lower-level recreation area is furnished with plush sofas, a second large TV, and a card table.
Sleeping arrangements: One master bedroom on the main floor is furnished with a king-sized bed and an attached full bath. On the first lofted level, two adjoining bedrooms offer a queen-sized bed each and share a full bath. On the second lofted “Crow’s Nest” level, a fourth bedroom also features a queen-sized bed. The fifth and sixth bedrooms on the lower level of Bullwinkle Inn are furnished with one queen-sized bed and a set of full-sized bunk beds. The final bathroom is also located on the lower level. Additional overnight guests can be accommodated by use of a pull-out couch and futon.
Bullwinkle Inn enjoys a private, wooded lot on the shore of Norris Lake with direct access to Flat Hollow Marina. This rental home offers a wonderful out-of-doors experience through a variety of decks and balconies. Guests can sunbathe on the uppermost deck, enjoy a cup of tea in the rain from the lower-level, covered wraparound porch, or brave the frosty air of midwinter in the outdoor hot tub.
This cabin also offers direct water access, with a wooden walkway leading from the multi-level system of decks to a large, flat diving platform, perfect for swimming, fishing or embarking on a paddle tour of the lake. The private dock is equipped with two covered boat slips.
Bullwinkle Inn is centrally located to a number of natural water features and parks. The nearby Big Ridge State Park is a protected forest in the Appalachian ridge and Valley Range. This popular destination offers great swimming on a sandy beach, hiking trails across narrow ridges and along streams, picnic shelters and notable historical sites. There is even the occasional live folk music concert. Birding and fishing are fruitful activities at Big Ridge — the standing state record is held by a 28-pound brown trout from the Clinch River, while dedicated birders regularly report sightings of bald eagles, heron, kingfishers and loons. Visitors to Big Ridge may also choose to host an event with a scenic, natural backdrop by reserving a picnic shelter or pavilion. These spaces can accommodate up to 25 people and are equipped with picnic tables, a grill and public restrooms.
Bullwinkle Inn is also located near the Cumberland Gap National Historic Park, which is home to many exciting Appalachian nature hikes and other sights. Covering more than 20,000 acres in three different states, Cumberland Gap is dotted with Civil-War-era forts, cabins and ruins. The park is traversed by nearly 85 miles of hiking trails, interspersed with destinations like the Pinnacle Overlook — a lookout point sitting at 2,440 feet that looks out over horizons in Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia. Cumberland Gap also hosts guided tours through the Gap Cave — a two-hour tour through unique underground spaces lit only by flashlights. Other fun family excursions in the area include the Climbworks zip line course and bike trail through the Smoky Mountain and the Navitat tree-based adventure park at Ijam’s Nature Center.
