Papa Bear’s Lodge is a large, luxury mountain lodge with a capacity of 22 guests. This large group vacation rental has everything you need to settle in with the whole extended family or all of your friends – including high-end accommodations such as a pool table and an outdoor hot tub with a view.
At 3,840 square feet, Papa Bear’s Lodge offers plenty of room, full of unique spaces, for your group to spread out. And, it’s pet-friendly! The great room stretches over the main floor, with double-height vaulted ceilings and large, picture windows, giving the cavernous living space a sunny, light-hearted ambiance. The room is furnished with several plush sofas, a gas fireplace, and a large, flat-screen TV – one of eight such screens scattered throughout the cabin retreat. The main floor also houses the large, fully-equipped kitchen with a stone countertop breakfast bar (perfect for serving as the buffet line) and new, stainless-steel appliances.
Papa Bear’s Lodge is settled on a private lot, hemmed in by dense woodland. The property offers breathtaking views of the Smokies from the open deck that wraps around the main level, as well as from several upper-level balconies.
Sleeping arrangements: This mountain chalet offers three master bedrooms, complete with king-sized beds, flat-screen TVs, and connected full baths with jetted tubs. Two of these have an additional twin-sized day bed. Two bedrooms on the lower level also features ensuite bathrooms, and are furnished with queen-sized beds. Three additional sleeper sofas are located in the shared spaces – two in the media room, and one in the great room.
Papa Bear’s Lodge has several bonus rooms, all of which serve to make spending a week in the mountains with everybody (and their dog) a truly enjoyable and relaxing experience. On the lower level, a home-entertainment system is set up in a large media room, bringing leather seats, surround sound and a huge flat-screen to movie night. There is also a spacious game room, complete with a pub table for cards and chess, a full-size billiard table, a TV, a bar, and of course a great view.
The hot tub is located on the lower deck, where guests can soak their stress away while admiring the distant panorama of the mountains. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the lodge.
Papa Bear’s Lodge is secluded and private, with all the benefits of the great Tennessee outdoors – fresh air, birdsong, and an absolutely unbeatable view. However, despite the lodge’s remote location, it is located just a short drive from local shopping, live shows, famous distilleries, excellent barbecue, gourmet pizza joints and one-of-a-kind museums and collection in downtown Gatlinburg. The group can split up to enjoy souvenir shopping in the city, or take the whole crew out for one of the area’s many group entertainments – such as mini golf, horseback riding, amusement parks, ziplining, and even underground tours of the surrounding caverns.
Even closer to the lodge, guests will find an entry point to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, whose natural landscapes and fresh waters make it worthy of inclusion in any travel itinerary. The park is home to many miles of beautiful hiking and biking trails that wend past craggy lookout points, sparkling waterfalls and untouched fields of wildflowers. Guests can bring their fishing gear and enjoy the local lakes and trout streams or pack a picnic and dine in one of the many scenic park areas.
There is also a historic trail leading through the park, offering exclusive explorations of historic cabins and buildings. If you’re lucky (and quiet), you may even see a black bear or some elk!
