Rocky Top Retreat is a stunning, three-story home perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the mountainous Tennessee countryside. The home features traditional Lincoln Log construction, a triple-decker balcony on the side overhanging the cliffs, a spacious, level parking area and large windows on all sides.
The three levels of covered veranda at this mountain-view vacation home — totally more than 800 square feet — are furnished with rocking chairs, small tables, a charcoal grill and an outdoor hot tub. Leading in from the main level deck, a great room is settled in the natural light from the sliding glass doors, with two plush sofas, a stone hearth and a flat-screen TV. The sloped wooden ceilings and woodsy decorative touches give the room a cozy, rustic feel. Nestled between the great room and the rough-hewn wooden staircase, a small dining area is set with an expandable table and six chairs. The kitchen, also on the main floor, is fully equipped with dinnerware and appliances, including a dish washer. Bedrooms on the upper level are light-filled and open, with custom-made beds and ensuite bathrooms.
There is direct access from the upper level loft to the uppermost balcony. On the lowest level, a large recreation area houses a full-sized pool table, foosball and a home entertainment center with a second lounge space. The lower level also offers direct access to the lowest deck, where guests can make use of the hot tub to relax in view of the hills and valleys. This rental home has plenty of space for up to 14 guests to spread out and relax, with extra comforts provided such as laundry facilities and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Sleeping arrangements: Rocky Top offers extra privacy to guests by placing one private bedroom on each subsequent floor. The top-level bedroom is furnished with a king-sized bed and a full-sized futon. This room has an ensuite bath, featuring an oversized soaking tub with its own exceptional viewing window. A ladder leads from this room to a loft-within-a-loft, which is furnished with two more futons. The main level bedroom is furnished with a second king-sized bed and another ensuite bath. The game room on the lower level houses the rest of the sleeping accommodations, with a set of queen-sized bunk beds.
Rocky Top Retreat is located within the Black Bear Ridge Resort, providing guests with free access to a seasonal community outdoor pool and sunning deck.
Rocky Top Retreat is conveniently located minutes away from the attractions of Pigeon Forge, with the expansive touristing district of Gatlinburg not far beyond. Within five minutes of the property’s edge, guests could find themselves on the main Parkway of Pigeon Forge, which is an exciting place to explore, shop, eat and observe. There visitors can spend the day perusing the outlet shops, poking around at the Titanic Museum, chasing an adrenaline rush at Splash Mountain, or taking in a live show in Dollywood.
After a few days in Pigeon Forge, you may want to venture farther into the metropolitan labyrinth of Gatlinburg, where even more unique shops, celebrated restaurants and bizarre collections await. In Gatlinburg, tourists will take note of the Guinness World of Records Museum, where visitors can participate in activities and challenges, as well as experiencing the extremes of humanity. Pay a visit to the famous Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies or try out the various thrill rides in the area. Just outside the city, travelers can engage in an up-close-and-personal wildlife encounter at Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area.

Beautiful View! Our church group was impressed with the cabin. The view was our favorite! Be prepared to be on top of the mountain. The porch railings on the lower level were way too loose and even had missing rails. If you have small children, this would be a problem. Sent an email to maintenance so hopefully it'll be fixed soon. For a home that sleeps 14 there is only seating for four in the dining area. This wasn't a huge deal, but it would be nice to have a few more seats. We loved that each level had its own bath. The third level had a jacuzzi. The lower level was a hit with the guys. Be aware that parking is limited. We were fine with a church van and one other vehicle, but our neighbors had over eight and parked all in front of our place. If you must bring more than two to three vehicles you have overflow parking down the lane. We would definitely come back. Reviewed April 2018
