Above the Clouds is a majestic, two-story cabin retreat set on a sparsely wooded, sloping lookout point in the Smokies. With four bedrooms, four bathrooms and spacious living spaces, Above the Clouds can accommodate up to 18 overnight guests without feeling crowded — and despite its lonely view, this luxury rental provides all of the necessities of modern living and then some, including a full kitchen with a dish washer, laundry facilities, wireless internet, cable TV, a gas fireplace and a hot tub. All of the bedrooms at Above the Clouds are generously proportioned, with out-of-the-way luggage and clothes storage space and private views.
The living spaces — kitchen, dining room and great room — are located in the center of the main floor, creating an easily accessible and sociable natural meeting place for guests. The great room is furnished with oversized plush armchairs, a sofa and a large, flat-screen TV above the fireplace. The dining room table has seats for eight with another three stools nearby at the breakfast counter. The kitchen is fully equipped with dining ware and cookware, with plenty of food-prep space. On the lower level, a secondary recreation room offers another lounge space with a wall-mounted flat-screen and a pool table.
The double-decker balconies serve as peaceful, covered verandas and are accessible from either floor of the home. The hot tub is located on the lower deck, which also connects to a ground-level stone patio with a grill and picnic table. Throughout this vacation rental, vaulted ceilings and picture windows invite the natural light and sprawling mountain views into the relaxing interior spaces, bringing with it the calm and relaxation of a true, private mountain retreat.
Sleeping arrangements: Above the Clouds offers four large, private bedrooms. Bedrooms one and two are furnished with king-sized beds; bedroom three is furnished with two queen-sized beds; and bedroom four is furnished with two sets of bunkbeds with twin-sized mattresses lofted over full-sized mattresses. There are also two queen-sized sofa sleepers located in the shared living spaces. Linens are provided for all beds.
Above the Clouds belongs to the exclusive, 43-acre Black Bear Falls Resort Community, which gives visitors access to the shared resort amenities including a series of private, heated pools for both children and adults, a scenic sundeck, and a large banquet hall and kitchen which are available for group reservations.
All visitors — whether outdoorsy, thrill-seekers, history buffs or connoisseurs of fine dining — can find something to hold their attention in Gatlinburg, TN, the state’s celebrated hub of tourism and entertainment surrounded by varied and breathtaking natural features. Above the Clouds is settled into the heart of adventure activities near Gatlinburg, from downhill skiing and hiking to trophy fishing and white-water rafting. See the region from above on a tree-top zipline tour, or from below on a guided tour of the connecting underground tunnels and caverns — or cut through and around it on horseback trails or mountain rollercoasters.
This mountain cabin is located a short distance from the pristine landscape protected inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park — bubbling trout streams, freshwater lakes, mountain trails, panoramic views, picnic camps, historic cabin tours and untouched field of wildflowers. Inside the city limits, Gatlinburg offers a dynamic array of family entertainments, including mini golf and arcades, unique restaurants, local shopping and souvenirs, and hundreds of beguiling museum collections and live shows. Stop in at the Guinness World of Records Museum, learn the real story at the Titanic Museum, and discover new lifeforms at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies.
And definitely save an afternoon for the one-of-a-kind Gatlinburg Arts & Crafts Community loop — eight miles of studios, galleries and shops filled with skilled craftsmen and original works, ranging in scope from delicate glass-blowing to life-size chainsaw sculptures.

Great space in a perfect location! We were a group of 3 families, including teenagers, who stayed in Above the Clouds for 4 nights. There was plenty of space for all of us to have our private sleeping and bathroom space yet gathering areas to play games and eat together. The kids really enjoyed the game room and hot tub. The hot tub was not working upon our arrival, but the maintenance department had it working within hours of our call. The property was clean, and the kitchen was stocked with the necessities we needed. We were disappointed to see the large TV not working, but there was a smaller one off to the side that worked. The balcony view was beautiful, and the proximity to Gatlinburg and the National Park were great. I would recommend this property, or any in this cabin community. Great vacation! Reviewed April 2018
Wonderful cabin in the woods Second year in a row that my family had rented this cabin. Overall the cabin was pristine. Aside from some typical wear and tear from it being a rental the place was top notch. Thanks for a great stay. Reviewed March 2018
