Bear Pause is a four-bedroom mountain retreat with double balconies that look out into the dense forestation of the mountains. The property is largely shaded and very private, hemmed in by tall trees. Guests can sit in the leaf-dappled sunlight of the upper deck in the provided rocking chairs or soak in the soothing waters of the hot tub on the lower deck — either way, the fresh mountain air and the lovely birdsong create a calming backdrop, perfect for relaxing and recharging.
On the main floor, a bright, inviting living space is settled into an open floor plan with a full wall of windows and glass doors that lead out onto the upper balcony. The great room — with a large sectional, a reading chair, a fireplace and a flat-screen TV — shares the space with a formal dining room with seating for eight and a full modern kitchen with stainless-steel appliances, including a dishwasher. A spiral staircase leads from the great room to the lofted sleeping quarters.
Sleeping arrangements: The sleeping quarters at Bear Pause are composed of four private bedrooms, each with ensuite full baths, real wood floors and ceilings, carefully curated rustic decorating, private views of the surrounding woodlands, and a TV. Two of the rooms are furnished with king-sized beds, and two with queens. Additional accommodations are located in the game room: a queen-sized sofa bed.
On the lower level, guests can shoot pool on a full-sized billiard table, play cards at the pub-style game table, or enjoy the standing foosball table. The game room also features a second lounging area with a 52-inch HDTV and an expanse of open, carpeted space with Legos and sticker books, perfect for younger children. Complimentary laundry facilities are located on the lower level as well.
This spacious, luxury cabin for 10 is located an easy distance to attractions in both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, just outside of Sevierville, TN. Some of Sevierville’s local and visitor favorites include: The Apple Barn Cider Mill and General Store, established next to a 4,000-tree orchard and peddling the house-made ciders and desserts, as well as the Apple Barn Village, which houses the winery, creamery, candy store and two restaurants; the CLIMB Works Smoky Mountains, where guests can tour the mountains on nine world-class ziplines.
The Smoky Mountain Deer Farm & Exotic Petting Zoo, where the deer roam free and guests can interact with camels, zebra, reindeer, miniature horses and more — there is also an on-site riding stable and 140 acres of trails; the Forbidden Caverns, where guests can view priceless underground rock formations; and the Tennessee Legend Distillery, where guests can pick up a true Tennessee souvenir — a mason jar of real moonshine. Take a selfie with the Sevierville Dolly Parton Statue, or visit the singer’s amusement park, Dollywood, in Pigeon Forge.
