Old Glory is a traditional log cabin on a wooded mountain lot just fifteen minutes from the downtown strip at Gatlinburg. This two-bedroom, postage stamp cabin is small but comfortable with room to accommodate four overnight guests. This forest home exists on three levels, with a triple-decker veranda to the back, looking out over the cliffs.
The main entry opens to a cozy living area with plush arm chairs, a stone hearth and a flat-screen TV. This level also houses the fully equipped kitchen and a dining table set for four. An open-slat wooden staircase leads to a lofted sleeping area in the eaves of the peaked roof. The lower level leads to a second private sleeping area. Both bedrooms are equipped with their own television. Old Glory is built with energy-efficient milled logs imported from Finland. The cabin is decorated throughout with original works and hand-craftsmanship.
Sleeping arrangements: The two private sleeping areas at Old Glory are separated by two levels, creating a convenient sound barrier. The upper level is furnished with two twin-sized beds and the lower level is furnished with a king-sized bed. The lower-level bedroom is part of a master suite with a full bathroom and a double whirlpool tub.
All three levels at Old Glory have a private-access walk-out balcony or patio. The main level opens to a covered veranda with a view, a small table for outdoor dining and old-fashioned porch rockers. The lower-level patio holds the hot tub.
Old Glory is located in the exclusive Village of Cobbly Nob Resort, which offers guests access to a shared outdoor pool. Cobbly Nob is only a 15-minutes’ drive from downtown Gatlinburg, where families, couples and groups of friends can find hundreds of entertainments suitable for any age or any size group.
Outdoor adventure opportunities abound in the area, with easy access to guided underground cavern tours, fishing, swimming and boating on several natural lakes and rivers, hiking, biking and horseback riding trails and pristine views (everything from waterfalls to fields of wildflowers) and historical sites such as those found at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park — not to mention one-of-a-kind mountains outings such as the Mountain Coaster, aerial zipline tours, zorbing and downhill skiing at Ober Gatlinburg.
The city of Gatlinburg is home to numerous options for shopping and local and chain restaurants, as well as more theaters, live music venues and novelty museums than you could hope to visit in a month of exploring. Some of the region’s local and tourist favorites include the eight-mile arts and crafts loop filled with galleries, shops and studios, and several famous distilleries and mountain wineries.
