The aptly named Among the Clouds rests precariously on a barely-there plot of land cut into a steep cliffside in the Tennessee mountains. This secluded mountain getaway is sheltered on one side by the cliff face and a dense copse of tall trees, while on the other side the land falls away to reveal a sheer view across peaks and valleys.
The homes itself is a two-story, modern ranch-style home with a double covered balcony on the mountains-facing side. Inside, a cozy sitting room on the main floor offers a large leather sectional, a gas fireplace and a large flat-screen TV.
The open floorplan also incorporates a dining area with a family-style table set for four and a linear kitchen fully equipped with place settings, cookware and modern appliances. The homes two decks are furnished with tables and chairs for dining al-fresco, as well as a four-person outdoor hot tub and a gas grill. A steep, private drive paves the way to Among the Clouds lofty mountain cabin, and provides off-street parking space for at least two vehicles.
Sleeping arrangements: The master suite at Among the Clouds is located on the main level, and is furnished with a king-sized bed, clothes storage and a 32-inch flat-screen TV. This private guest room is connected to the master bath, which includes a combination tub and shower, as well as a large jetted tub in a separate nook. The second guest room is located on the upper level and is furnished with a queen-sized bed. This room has direct access to a second full bath with a combination tub and shower, as well as clothes storage and another private television.
The upper level of this remote vacation home features a spacious recreation room with a full-sized pool table and a small TV lounge area. The game room offers direct access to the upper level deck, which is connected via an exterior stairway to the lower deck and outdoor hot tub.
Chalet Village offers a number of attractions onsite, as well as a convenient location for tourists looking to enjoy the sights and sounds of downtown Gatlinburg. When you stay at Above the Clouds, you have access to local shared amenities such as athletic and recreation facilities, including tennis courts and an indoor lap pool, as well as beautiful mountain walking paths and community parks and picnic spots.
The local touristing hub of Gatlinburg, TN, is just a short drive away, offering hundreds of shops, family activities and fine dining opportunities. Your staff has done a great job at keeping the cabins clean and the feeling of home like. I only have 2 complaints, the mildew smell (look to be water damage over the Jacuzzi tub in the master bath (back corner)) and the cigarette butts on the ground around the deck. A couple of things I would like to say. The General Store (Chalet Village Market) is excellent. My wife and I was greeted with a friendly smell every day of our stay and was given great advice (Places to eat, visit, how to get around town (avoiding traffic) and hike), excellent customer service and selection of items. Last thing, we seen 8 bears (3 on the Ski Mountain RD next to the General Store and 5 from our cabin deck) the best one was the Mother bear and her 3 babies.
