BearFoot 2 is a large, multilevel one-bedroom home set on a private lot ringed by trees. Guests are welcomed to the lodge by a covered porch and a set of old-fashioned wooden rocking chairs, all set for you to enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine while the sun sets in the mountains.

This cabin is finished in floor-to-ceiling golden-hued woodwork, giving it a cozy and rustic feel. Guests will love the homey touches, such as the seasonal table runners and wildlife-themed décor. This rental home is 720 square feet, and the open floorplan results in a spacious living space on the main floor. A fully equipped kitchen with utensils and a dishwasher wraps one corner, while opposite comfortable sofas and chairs are gathered round a traditional stone hearth. Near sliding glass doors in a light-filled nook, a round kitchen table is set for four.

This home is beautiful in all seasons, with flowers blooming in the spring and summer, vibrant leaves in autumn and fluffy mountain snow that clings to the pines in winter — so whenever you get some precious time off, make the most of it at BearFoot 2!

Note: BearFoot 2 recently changed its policy to include pets. However, we ask that dogs be crate-trained so they are not left out alone if you leave for the day. We also ask that you keep them off the beds. Many thanks!

Unique Features

This secluded cabin offers a quiet setting and 400 square feet of screened-in porch, complete with a hot tub, to make the most of the fresh air and gorgeous views. BearFoot 2 is also one of a series of seven cabins in the area, all within walking distance of each other, which can be rented out individually or as a group. Collectively, the cabins can accommodate up to 42 overnight guests — perfect for a reunion or multifamily trip!

Things To Do

This one-bedroom mountain cabin is set high in the hills within walking distance of the boundary line to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This offers guests easy access to scenic hiking trails, great picnic spots, historic sites, waterfalls, trout streams and a huge freshwater lake ideal for fishing, boating and swimming.

BearFoot 2 is one of the closest rentals to Cades Cove, where visitors can explore a preserved schoolhouse, a mill, a church and a collection of homesteads built by early settlers to the regions. Other excellent outdoor activities in the area include a horseback tour of nearby mountain wineries or a guided spelunking tour of the Forbidden Caverns.

The Little River runs through the small town of Townsend and is a popular destination for tubers, kayakers and canoers. Guests to BearFoot 2 are within an easy day trip to attractions in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, including museums, amusements parks, great shopping and excellent restaurants. Be sure to check out the eight-mile Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Community loop, where local artisans display their works and wares in studios, galleries and boutiques.

Reviews

The cabin is beautifully maintained, hot tub was THE cleanest I've ever seen in any rental. The view was gorgeous! Wi-Fi worked, as well as cable. If a laid back, quiet relaxing weekend is what your wanting, this is your cabin. Reviewed 31 July 2018
We opted for a cabin this year for our kids’ spring break instead of our usual motel. We always stay in Townsend because we prefer the quietness over the busy streets of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, and it’s only a 20 min drive to either one. We found this cabin last minute and it was more than we could have imagined, cleanest I have ever stayed in, exactly as described and the owner was one of the nicest and most helpful people to deal with, this will definitely be our go-to rental from now on. Father and sons’ getaway. This was the first annual Father and Son getaway for my boys and me. We were reluctant to go to a location that we have never been to before but chose BearFoot 2 based on the reviews on the website. We were not disappointed. We were here for six nights and seven days, and the location is fantastic. Cleanest and most well-stocked cabin I've ever stayed in and I am from Wisconsin. The owner stopped by yesterday afternoon to change the filter on the air conditioner and made me feel like one of his family. I would definitely rent any one of their properties again and hope to return next year. Reviewed 18 Jul 2017
Great little cabin in the Smokies. We booked a one room bedroom cabin in Townsend, considered the quiet side of the Smokies. The cabin was great, very clean, well kept, had everything we needed and was very quiet and peaceful. The hot tub was great after some very long hikes. Bed was comfortable. Parking area was paved and very easy to get to considering we had a small sports car. We would highly recommend renting this cabin. Reviewed 8 June 2017
Great second visit. This is our second time staying in this cabin. I am happy there is now solid Wi-Fi service as there was not last time (no cell service for T Mobile). There are still some minor issues with the cabin but nothing to prevent a stay here. It’s an excellent location close to the park. Reviewed 9 Aug. 2016
Very peaceful. We had a great Thanksgiving getaway. We brought 2 kids and there was plenty of room. The cabin was incredibly cozy. Even though you were close to other cabins even in the winter with the trees bare it felt very isolated. The sound of the river was nice! And you could not be closer to the park! There was no wifi which I expected to be the case after reading other reviews---although there is a sign at the cabin that says there is Wi-Fi. Overall it was a perfect retreat!
