Our wheelchair accessible Genesis Cabin in Townsend, TN has more than 2,000 square feet with five bedrooms and three bathrooms. You can sleep 12 in this three-story log cabin, completed in 2000, which overlooks the lovely Little River. The Smoky Mountain pet-friendly cabin has lots of private spaces for families vacationing together or your next family reunion. Bring your furry friends too - you’ll love the convenience of the tile floors in the open concept living/kitchen/dining area. The living room has cathedral ceilings, two-story windows, comfortable reclining couch options, a 50-inch TV with cable, an X-Box/DVD player, and a wood stove. The master bedroom with private bath is also on the main level.
Climb up the amazing hand-hewn log staircase and there are two bedrooms and a loft sleeping area open to the living room counted as the fourth bedroom. The lower level has a game room with pool table, darts, TV/DVD player, bathroom, and bunk beds that makes a fifth bedroom sleeping area. Just the place teenagers will dibs as their own space. Walk out to the huge main level deck and relax in the patio furniture or in the screened porch where you can cook up a meal on the gas grill and dine alfresco with no bugs! There is a spacious lower walkout with patio furniture, or take a small walk in the woods to your own forest patio dinning area or down the bluff staircase to the amazing hot tub.
The fully equipped kitchen has a refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, Keurig coffee maker, toaster, dish ware, glass ware, silverware, cooking utensils, and cook ware. The dining room table seats 6. Bring your own favorite K-Cups. You’ll have lots of options on where to sit and enjoy that morning coffee. A freezer is located in the lower level and a washer/dryer.
Sleeping Arrangements: Bedroom 1 (main level master with private bath) - king bed; Bedroom 2 (upper) - queen bed + futon; Bedroom 3 (upper level) - queen bed + futon,; Loft (upper level) - full/twin bunk bed; Game Room ( lower level )- full/twin bunk bed. Bathrooms on each level.
The Genesis Cabin is one of seven cabins nestled on the bluff along a one-lane road - some with Little River views. The cabins are within walking distance to one another and the adjoining National Park boundary line. You can literally hike just a few yards to the end of the road and step into the Great Smoky Mountain National Park! Book one or more cabins to accommodate larger family reunions or a special event/retreat. You can accommodate 48 guests when you rent all the cabins: Genesis, Refuge, Manna, Bearfoot Lodge, Bearfoot 2, Evergreen, and Beary Tale.
Genesis Cabin has views of the river, it’s own patio area in the woods, two levels of deck/patio, screened porch, and an amazing hot tub perched above the river in its own wooden structure. You might just feel like you are in your own water treehouse when you soak in the Genesis Cabin hot tub! You’ll have lots of outdoor spaces to sit, relax and unwind. Even larger groups can find their own quiet space in this cabin. And when you are ready to get together for some group fun, the game room awaits you.
Take a tour of the Tuckaleechee Caverns, dubbed the “Greatest Site Under the Smokies.” The 1.25-mile round trip adventure traverses through 20-30 million year old ground and the beautiful 210-foot Silver Falls. After seeing the deep, dark secrets of the ancient caverns, head back to the Genesis Cabin for your favorite beverage and relax on the deck, balcony, patio, or porch.
You’ll want to enjoy the Little River rafting fun during your summer stay. Plan a trip with one of the local outfitters in Townsend. The River Rat Outfitter is pet-friendly and can even equip your dog for the ride! What an exciting day on the river.

Reviewed 28 Jul 2018. The location of Genesis is fantastic! A peaceful get-away yet near to many adventures in Smokey Mountain National Park, Townsend truly is the peaceful side of SMNP and was exactly what we were looking for. We ventured to nearby Gatlinburg but did not find it to our liking as it was very busy and commercialized. However, if that is your thing, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are just down the road a short drive. The cabin was ready and well stocked for the arrival of our group of 9. We could hear and see the Little River but had to access it by the road that runs parallel to the cabin area which was no problem, just an observation. The Little River provides a cool place to splash and tube and was enjoyed a great deal by our grandkids. It was a memorable time and a wonderful nature vacation and we are already planning our return trip!
Family Reunion at Genesis cabin. Reviewed 1 Jun 2017. We loved our stay here, the owner was SO kind and even let one of the members of our party check in a little early. It was gorgeous and 3 stories with plenty of space and close to many attractions. You will not have cell service or internet!
Reviewed 15 Feb 2017. What a awesome stay! I have nothing to say but good things about Evergreen and Billie P! Both of which exceeded our expectations. Cabin was nicely stocked with cooking utensils and the cabin was very clean. The view of the river was outstanding. We will definitely be back!
I can't say enough about Genesis! It has all the modern amenities you could ever need, but you're right over the river and it feels like a million miles away from all the hustle and bustle! The hot tub overlooking the river on its own platform is beautiful! It's so relaxing to sit in and hear the river below! The recreation room has a pool table and there are other games onsite to play. There are plenty of books, dvds, and cds. The kitchen is furnished with everything you need to have great meals together. The outside patios and porches (one screened) are perfect for gathering any time of the day! The bedrooms are all so cozy and remind me of a bygone time. The master bathroom is gorgeous with an open tile shower like I've never seen! The grounds are a park-like setting with gorgeous flowers and greenery. There's even an area for a good ol' campfire or cookout! We love Genesis and can't wait for the chance to go back again. This chalet is perfect for a group of friends looking for an adult place together, or it is perfectly suited for families with children. It can sleep 13 comfortably and is a clean chalet. The owner has it tastefully decorated and it has a personal feel too! It will feel like home to you the first time you walk in! We've stayed in many places in the Smokies and this is by far our favorite!
