I fell in love with this little studio cottage the first time I stepped onto the front porch. Sweet William sits right on the main channel of Douglas Lake, so every morning begins with long-range water views and the sound of gentle waves against our private dock. Inside you’ll find an open floor plan with a queen bed and comfy sleeper sofa on the main level. A ladder leads up to a loft with two twin beds, perfect for kids or extra guests. The full bath has a shower, and we provide all linens and towels so you can pack light.
As your host I’ve tried to include everything you’ll need for a relaxing lake escape. The kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, oven, microwave and coffee maker so you can prepare your favorite meals, and there’s a charcoal grill outside for summer cookouts. Stay connected with free Wi-Fi and stream your favorite shows on the smart TV, or switch on the heat or air conditioning to keep the studio comfortable in any season. With both a front porch and a sundeck on the private dock (seasonal), you’ll have plenty of space to sip coffee in the morning or watch the sun set over the water.
If you’re traveling with friends or family, consider pairing Sweet William with our neighboring cabins – Iris, Trillium and Clover – for a larger group getaway. Each cottage has its own unique charm yet shares the same peaceful waterfront setting and convenient boat launch. I’ve been hosting guests on Douglas Lake since 1995, and it brings me joy to share this special place with visitors looking for a quiet retreat near the Smoky Mountains.
What makes Sweet William special is its location. The studio sits right on the lake’s main channel with a private dock for your boat and an on-site launch, so you’re never more than a few steps from the water. Whether you’re fishing for largemouth bass and crappie – Douglas Lake is ranked as a top fishing lake – or paddling a kayak at sunrise, the lake is your backyard. The front porch and lakefront deck provide unobstructed views of the mountains and water, and the property is family-friendly with free parking and a smoke-free interior.
This cabin’s open layout makes it feel larger than its 560 square feet. The main living area includes the queen bed, sleeper sofa and dining space, while the loft gives kids a hideaway of their own. A charcoal grill, smart TV, heating and air conditioning, and Wi-Fi add modern comforts to the rustic lakefront experience. For off-season stays through April 30 2026, we’re offering a special “Stay 4 Nights, Pay for 3” promotion (excluding holidays), making Sweet William an affordable way to enjoy the Smokies.
Life on Douglas Lake revolves around the water. Guests often spend their days fishing for bass or crappie, swimming, kayaking or paddle-boarding right from the dock. You can rent a boat from nearby marinas or simply relax on our sundeck and watch herons, egrets and even white pelicans fly over the shoreline. For a change of pace, pack a picnic and head to one of the nearby lakefront parks or take a scenic hike on the Douglas Dam Nature Loop.
Just beyond the lake, Sevier County offers endless attractions. Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are all within a short drive and feature dinner theaters, museums, shopping and the world-famous Dollywood theme park. Great Smoky Mountains National Park straddles the Tennessee–North Carolina border and spans more than 522,000 acres; it offers over 150 trails, dramatic mountain views and abundant wildlife. Spend a day hiking to waterfalls, driving scenic byways or looking for black bears in America’s most visited national park.
For a unique underground adventure, explore Forbidden Caverns in Sevierville. The limestone cave system remains a cool 58°F year-round and features sparkling formations, clear streams and natural chimneys. History buffs can learn about the Eastern Woodlands people who once used the caverns as winter shelter and moonshiners who hid their stills there in the 1920s. After a day of sightseeing, return to Sweet William to enjoy a quiet evening by the lake.
