Escape to the Smoky Mountains, whether you’re looking forward to being on the go or taking it easy, you’re certain to have a wonderful time at The Great Escape II.
The spacious three-story lodge also has a kitchen and dining area that can host a small crowd, three covered decks so that everyone can enjoy the vibrant views and a game room that includes plenty of entertainment options for everyone.
In addition, the main floor is the dining area, with a sparkling wood table that seats twelve people in comfortable Windsor chairs. Another four people can dine at the near-by breakfast bar. On the other side of the bar is the roomy kitchen. Here you’ll find all the appliances, gadgets, cookware, and tableware you’ll need to feed the whole gang, along with plenty of counter space and elbow room.
Sleeping Arrangements at The Great Escape II: With five bedrooms and five bathrooms this cabin can comfortably sleep up to seventeen people. Out of the five bedrooms, three of them are upstairs, one on the main floor, and one downstairs. Each of the rooms has a luxurious king-size bed and a flat-screen TV.
Three of the bedrooms have their own fireplace as well. What’s more, three of the bedrooms open directly onto a deck, so you can slip outside to catch the sunrise without waking up the others. There’s a full bathroom for each bedroom as well.
Additional guests can sleep in the living room and the game room: Each has a sofa that opens into a queen-size bed. Also included, there’s a sleeping nook upstairs with a twin bunk bed that the kids will love.
Once you see the downstairs home theater and game room you will be astonished. Fifteen people can watch a movie on the home theater’s large screen, in comfortable cinema-style chairs. The huge game room alone is full of things to do: There’s a regulation-size pool table, a multi-game arcade, air hockey, pinball, a Golden Tee golf arcade game, and a large flat-screen TV. You’ll never be bored at The Great Escape II! There’s even a pub table, if you prefer to play cards or simply enjoy a quiet chat with a friend.
One flight up is the main floor, home to yet another large flat-screen TV, as well as plenty of leather seating you’ll love sinking into. When you’re not watching TV or warming yourself by the fireplace, the living room is an inviting spot to curl up with your laptop to surf the web or to get lost in a book.
Of course, you don’t come to the Smoky Mountains to spend all your time indoors, even if your cabin has all the amenities that The Great Escape II has. The lodge has more than 700 square feet of covered decks from which you can savor the fresh mountain breeze, the sight of the towering trees, and the singing of chickadees in the morning or night. There are plenty of rockers where you can kick back with a book and a drink, as well as a deck swing: The kids will want to take turns on it throughout the day, while at night you and your special someone will relish the romance of swinging in the moonlight. The best seat of all, however, might be in the deck’s hot tub. Especially after a day spent hiking, skiing, or keeping up with the kids at Dollywood, the tub’s steamy jets of water will feel so rejuvenating.
The Great Escape II is located in the Gatlinburg Falls Resort, in the summer you’ll have free access to the outdoor pool. Even more exciting, the resort is close to everything the area has to offer.
Downtown Gatlinburg, home to the Guinness World Records Museum, thrill rides, an aquarium, shops, restaurants, and more, is only a few minutes away. Also, very nearby is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which is a must; you can discover its wildlife, wildflowers, and waterfalls on foot, on bike, on horseback, or by car.
