Step into the Holly House, our two‑story log cabin tucked under the holly trees at Green Frog Farm. The downstairs bedroom holds a queen bed with crisp linens, while a separate upstairs loft offers a full‑size bed plus a twin bed – perfect for a child or extra guest. With room for up to five guests, the cabin also features a full kitchen with a gas range (the oven is inoperable) and a shared bathroom with a clawfoot tub. Central air & heat and a wood‑burning fireplace keep you comfortable in any season, and the wrap‑around porch invites you to relax in a rocking chair and soak up the farm views.

This cabin balances rustic character with modern comforts. Hand‑hewn logs, exposed beams and antique furnishings set the stage, while quilts and comfy seating make you feel at home. A narrow winding staircase leads to the upstairs bedroom, so please keep in mind that it may not be suitable for very young children or guests with mobility issues. From the porch you can watch the sun dance across our catch‑and‑release pond or listen to songbirds in the trees.

As part of your stay you’ll have access to firewood for the fireplace, an outdoor fire pit for roasting marshmallows and a generous wrap‑around porch with a porch swing. Each morning we bring you homemade cinnamon rolls and coffee. Our full kitchen is stocked with cookware and dishes so you can prepare simple meals despite the missing oven. The Holly House sits next to our Cotton Gin cabin, making it easy for larger groups to book cabins side‑by‑side while still enjoying your own space.

Unique Features

The Holly House stands out at Green Frog Farm because it’s one of our few two‑story cabins built from reclaimed 1800s logs. Its layout combines a downstairs master suite and an upstairs loft with both a full‑size and a twin bed, offering flexible sleeping arrangements for families. Hand‑crafted details like a narrow, winding staircase, antique light fixtures and a clawfoot tub preserve its pioneer heritage while central heating and air conditioning keep things comfortable.

Outside, the wrap‑around porch is lined with rocking chairs and a swing overlooking the pond and surrounding farm. A wood‑burning fireplace with firewood provided, a gas range in the kitchen, and a porch swing under the holly trees create a cozy atmosphere. Guests enjoy being steps away from our working cotton gin and other historic buildings, yet still feel secluded within the cedars. For larger groups, the Holly House can be paired with the adjacent Cotton Gin or Moonshine cabins.

Things To Do

Guests at the Holly House are welcome to explore Green Frog Farm’s more than twenty restored buildings, including a cotton gin, one‑room schoolhouse and country store. Join a free tour with me or wander the grounds on your own. Grab a fishing pole and enjoy catch‑and‑release fishing in our pond, pick fresh blueberries when they’re in season, or gather around the outdoor fire pit for s’mores and stargazing.

Just a couple miles down the road is the Tennessee Safari Park, where you can drive through and feed exotic animals, then take a walk through the petting zoo. Wine lovers will enjoy Century Farm Winery, a quick trip toward Jackson, and history buffs can visit the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center and Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum. Nearby towns like Alamo, Bells and Humboldt offer antique shops, farm‑to‑table restaurants and small‑town festivals throughout the year.

For longer outings, plan a day trip to Jackson for live music, museums and shopping, or venture about ninety minutes west to Memphis to explore Beale Street, Graceland and the National Civil Rights Museum. Return home to the Holly House in time to watch the sunset from your porch swing and relax with the sound of crickets and frogs.

The Holly House was a quiet, cozy and roomy two-story cabin perfect for our family of five. We loved sipping coffee on the wrap-around porch and watching fish jump in the pond. John was friendly and helpful and we can't wait to come back – Natalie Herrud. We had the best getaway at The Holly House, a warm and comfortable retreat. About the Owner/Manager

As your hosts, we are passionate about preserving our West Tennessee heritage. I’m Dr. John Freeman, a retired physician who returned to my hometown to save log buildings from around the region. My daughter Krista joined me on this journey, and together we relocated and rebuilt more than 20 structures on Green Frog Farm.

We live on the property year‑round and love welcoming guests into the cabins we’ve rescued. From the homemade cinnamon rolls and coffee delivered each morning to the tours of our barnyard animals and historic buildings, we put our hearts into making your stay special. Whether you’re looking for a quiet getaway or a base for exploring West Tennessee, we’ll treat you like family and share stories about the families who first built these cabins over a century ago.
