Welcome to my Moonshine Cabin, our newest retreat nestled among the cedars at Green Frog Farm. Named for the antique moonshine still that rests nearby, this intimate log cabin is perfect for a romantic getaway or peaceful solo retreat. Inside you'll find a queen bed with an en-suite bathroom and a cozy living area filled with warm wood tones and high ceilings.
The cabin’s small kitchen and dining nook are just off the main room, so you can prepare simple meals without missing the crackle of the fireplace. I’ve included modern comforts like central air and heat, so you’ll stay comfortable year‑round. Step outside onto the wrap‑around porch to sway in a rocking chair, fire up the grill or simply listen to the frogs by the pond.
If you’re traveling with family or friends, consider booking the nearby Cabin in the Pines as well—both cabins are tucked back from the highway for extra privacy. As my guest, you’ll have access to the farm’s catch‑and‑release ponds, acres of walking space and complimentary homemade cinnamon rolls and coffee delivered each morning. I love sharing this slice of Tennessee history with visitors and hope you’ll make yourself at home.
Moonshine Cabin was built from hand‑hewn logs salvaged from 19th‑century structures and given new life at Green Frog Farm. Its name and décor pay tribute to Tennessee’s bootlegging heritage, and you can still see the historic still nearby. The open layout with a queen bed and clawfoot soaking tub invites you to slow down and unwind.
A wood‑burning fireplace warms the cabin on cool nights, and I keep a supply of firewood ready for you. Outside, you’ll find a wrap‑around porch with a swing, grill and rocking chairs plus a private fire pit under the stars. Because our cabins are spaced apart, you’ll enjoy plenty of peace and quiet along with my personal touches like fresh linens and locally baked cinnamon rolls.
During your stay, spend time exploring Green Frog Farm’s collection of restored buildings—including a cotton gin, schoolhouse and log church. I lead tours upon request and love to share the stories behind each structure. Stroll the grounds, fish in our catch‑and‑release pond or pick wild blackberries in season.
Less than three miles away is the Tennessee Safari Park, where you can drive through and feed exotic animals from your car—my guests rave about it. Pack a picnic and head over for the afternoon, or venture into the nearby town of Alamo for antique shopping and home‑cooked meals.
You can also take a short drive to Jackson to tour museums, see a show at the historic Carnegie Center or sample wines at the Century Farm Winery. Memphis is about an hour away and makes a great day trip for blues music on Beale Street, Graceland and barbecue. However you choose to spend your time, end your days back on the porch swing watching fireflies and listening to the crickets.

We stayed in the Moonshine Cabin and loved our time there. The cabin was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioner kept us nice and cool on some of the hottest days this year. We loved the peaceful and quiet setting and the porch swing and rocking chairs were an added bonus! We hope to return to Green Frog and enjoy the beautiful scenery again. Kristin Davis
Our stay at the Moonshine Cabin was quiet, very clean, and well stocked. Mr. John was kind and helpful and we loved the property. We will definitely be back! Landon Preston

I’m Dr. John Freeman, a retired family physician turned preservationist. After years of collecting endangered log structures throughout West Tennessee, I began restoring them on my family’s land to create Green Frog Farm. My daughter Krista and I now host guests in these lovingly reconstructed cabins while continuing to rescue and rebuild historic buildings. We strive to provide warm Southern hospitality and a glimpse into our region’s pioneer past.
