Hydrangea cottage is a unique blend of the old and new. While it is almost 100 years old, our quaint cottage in the Roan Mountains features a brand new kitchen, fireplace bathroom and heating/air conditioning. Porches on the front and back create special places to enjoy coffee, watch sunsets, or listen to the soothing sounds of Cove Creek across the street.
The full-equipped kitchen includes a microwave oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, ice maker, mixer, blender and a washer and dryer. Flatware and dishes for 8. Seat 6 comfortably in the dining room table and enjoy the an evening fire in the floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace. A flat screen TV/DVD/VCR with 20 cable channels is in the living room and a second TV with VCR/cable is in the upstairs bedroom.
Sleeping arrangements: Queen bed in bedroom 1; Full bed in bedroom 2, built in twin beds in upstairs bedroom 3; queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Sleeps up to 8.
Jacuzzi bath tub in bathroom. Large floor to ceiling stone fireplace. Two TVs. Stone stairway up to third bedroom.

Try boating, fishing, and swimming at the Watauga Lake Recreation area considered one the the most beautiful TVA system lakes. Game fish include smallmouth and largemouth bass, walleye and rainbow and brown trout.
Tube or ski at the Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain ski resorts in Western North Carolina about 20 miles away.
See a race at the Bristol Motor Speedway about 40 miles away. Named “Thunder Valley” due to the location of the dragstrip between two mountains.
Hike the Appalachia as it travels through the open grassy ridge tops at Carver’s Gap. For a more challenging hit, try the Cloudland Trail to the roan High Bluff.
Visit the Doe River 134-foot Covered Bridge in downtown Elizabethan built in 1882.
Visit the Biltmore House 90 minutes away in Asheville, North Carolina. Tour the luxurious summer home, gardens and vineyards of the Vanderbuilts.

Monthly rate: Inquire to discuss
50% deposit required within two weeks. Full payment is due two weeks prior to check in. A $200 security deposit (on a credit card authorization) is required one week prior to check-in and refundable within 30 days of departure, less any damage or monies due.
Cancellations are subject to a 35.00 fee. Cancellations 14 days or less prior to check-in date will be charged for all reserved days if the cabin is not re-rented.
Check-In 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Check-Out by 11.
Pets: Dogs are allowed with a 2 pet/per/cabin maximum. You must receive written permission from Roan Mountain Rentals before arriving with pets. No pets under 1 year old; no pets allowed on beds or on furnishing; you cannot leave pets in the cabin unattended unless they are in a portable kennel (available for rent); and you must walk pets on a leash while on the property. Fees: $50/2 nights; $75/3-5 nights; $100/week.
